You stream for three hours, talk to nobody, and the counter reads 0 or 1 (and the 1 is you). It is the most common experience on Twitch and it has specific causes. Here are nine of them, with the fix for each.
1. Nobody can see you
Twitch sorts categories by viewer count. At 0 viewers you are on the last page of every category. Fix: stream in categories with fewer than 300 total viewers, or raise your count with a Twitch viewer package so you move up the list.
2. You are streaming the same game as 5,000 others
Popular categories are dominated by partners. Fix: pick a niche game or a "Just Chatting" sub-topic where you can rank.
3. Your title says nothing
"Chill stream" or "gaming" gets scrolled past. Fix: write a title with a hook, a goal or a question.
4. You stream at peak time
Evenings in North America are the most crowded hours. Fix: try mornings or late nights when the category is quiet.
5. Your stream starts silent
New viewers decide in 10 seconds. A silent streamer looking at a loading screen loses them. Fix: talk from the first second, even to nobody.
6. You have no schedule
Random streams never build a return audience. Fix: same days, same time, posted in your panels.
7. You never leave your own stream
Twitch is social. Fix: raid a similar channel at the end of every stream and be active in two or three communities.
8. No clips, no shorts
Off-platform discovery is where most growth happens now. Fix: post one clip a day to TikTok or Shorts with your schedule in the caption.
9. You are stuck below the wall
Between 0 and about 20 viewers, growth is almost impossible because nobody sees you. Above it, Twitch starts placing you where people browse and the cycle flips.
